This program offers “swim to safety instruction”, recreational swim and a swim team. In addition, we offer beginner and advanced swimming lessons with Red Cross certification.
American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim
Our new Learn-to-Swim offers something for everybody. A unique six-level instructional approach it is unlike anything offered by other aquatic training programs. Plus our instructors are trained and certified by the American Red Cross, so students are in great hands.
Participants learn a variety of strokes, including the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly. They are also introduced to a wide range of personal safety skills and diving techniques. Courses are fun and interactive with hands on training. Advanced level students can refine their skills and discover how to incorporate swimming into a life fitness plan.
The prerequisite for each level is the successful demonstration of the skills from the preceding level, except for Level 1, which has no prerequisite. Each level of Learn-to-Swim includes training in basic water safety and helping others in an emergency.
(Participants will be given a folder, enclosed with evaluation & certificate indicating whether they pass or fail the level)
Swimmers with Level 3 or above swim skills are eligible to join the team at a low cost of $350. Practices are held Mon – Fri from 6:00 – 8:00pm, Mandatory two practices per week. For more information please contact the Aquatic Office.
