Performing Arts empowers young people to develop or
enhance their talents, cultural awareness, creativity
and appreciation of the visual and performing arts. We
provide drama instruction, Hip Hop, Latin, Tap, Jazz,
Ballet, and African Dance classes.
K-Company and Jr. K-Company are our renowned dance
troupes. Our yearly highlights include a performing
arts festival, drama showcase, and dance recital.

25th Anniversary
The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Performing
Arts Department celebrated its 25th Anniversary
on Saturday, June 2, 2007. The Performing
Arts Department has been able to train and feature
over 6,000 members in drama, dance, singing, music
lessons, technical skills; and the creation of
a drum and bugle corp as well as our famous Moms
in Motion. The crowning achievements
of the Performing Arts Department however are the K-Company and Junior
K-Company Dance Troupes. Over
the years, quite a few of our performing arts alumni
have done very well professionally including singer/dancer Jennifer
Lopez and actress Kerry Washington (from
the movies Ray and Save the Last Dance). Ms.
Washington was also the winner of the NAACP Image
Award in 2005. Our current professional
star is Asia Nitollano, a former
K-Company member, who is the new Pussy Cat
Doll.
