Programs offered at the Throggs Neck Unit

Arts & Crafts:  Children will research, conceptualize and then execute Art Projects which take them around the world culturally.

Career Exploration & College Prep:  Teens will participate in group sessions that teach goal settings, career exploration, college review and tours of various colleges. 

Computer Class:  Children will be taught and be familiarized with working knowledge of basic programs i.e., word, excel, power point and the use of the internet.  

Keystone and Torch Clubs:  Keystone and Torch Clubs are chartered small group leadership development clubs where children choose their own activities, plan and implement community service projects.

Partners In Reading: A Board of Education sponsored tutorial reading program for first through third grade.

Performing Arts & Dance Classes:  Children will receive instructions in various forms of dance and dramatization techniques.  They then will receive the opportunity to showcase what they have learned through performances such as recitals and plays. 

Physical Education & Recreation:  Children will receive instructions in various individual and team sports; they will then be encouraged to compete in various activities.  We aim to instill good sportsmanship, teamwork and a sense of fair play. 

Power Hour (Homework Help):  A comprehensive homework help and tutoring program which is designed to raise the academic proficiency of Club members.  

Smart Moves/Passport to Manhood:  Promotes abstinence from substance abuse and adolescent sexual involvement through the practice of responsible behavior.     

Snack/Supper: Children will be provided a healthy snack and meal that supports growth both physically and emotionally.

Summer Program:  This program provides physical, recreational and social activities.  Children receive the opportunity to venture outside of the site to visit various places i.e. theme parks, the zoo, museums, state parks, campsites etc.

Triple Play:  A wellness program that demonstrates how eating right, keeping fit and forming positive relationships add up to a healthy lifestyle.  Participants will engage in physical activities; and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others.
