The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Performing Arts Program has been in existence for over 28 years within those years over 5000 members have participated in dance, singing, and drama. Many of our alumni have taken their performing arts skills to a professional level.

We have those who are now teaching music, dance, and drama and then there are those who are actors, actresses / singers like Jennifer Lopez who has been named the first spokeswomen for Boys and Girls Club of America. At the announcement Jennifer expressed her feelings on being a member of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. “When I was a little girl from the Bronx running to Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club to sing and dance…I didn’t know what was in store for me then” said Jennifer. “But I know that with Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, I had a place to go”.

DANCE REGISTRATION
All classes are closed for the 2011-2012 season.

The Performing Arts offers instruction in Ballet, Latin, African, and Hip-Hop dance as well as Acting. Piano and Vocal lessons also available

Dance classes meet every Saturday for 1 hour.
Acting classes meet every Monday for 1 hour.
Vocal lesson meet every Thursday for 45 minutes.
Piano lessons meet every Saturday for 30 minutes.

This year in 2011-2012 K Company, Kips Bay senior performance arts troupe will celebrate its 20th anniversary. We are hoping to develop other actresses/actors ,singers and dancers like Jennifer Lopez, Kerry Washington, Veronica Vasquez ,Damaris Lopez, Dominic Colon, Erica Strubbe, Brett Sturgis, J.D. Martinez, Tenile Jimenez, Asia Nitallano, Danielle Polonco, and Anthony Rodriguez .

KIPS BAY BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
In the fall will be offering Drama, Dance, Singing and Piano lessons.
Auditions for Jr. K – company and K – Company will be held in mid October.

DRAMA
Learn basic acting skills through theater games, improvisation and acting exercises in a comfortable and fun atmosphere.

For the more advanced students, scene study, musical theater and on-camera skills for film and commercials will be learned.
