23rd Annual Golf Classic Tournament & Dinner
It was the perfect day for the 23rd Annual Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Golf Classic Tournament & Awards Dinner which took place at Quaker Ridge Golf Club on July 19th, 2016. The proceeds of this event benefit over 10,000 underserved youngsters in the Bronx.
The fun began with a hole-in-one, $50k cash prize, putting contest followed by a delicious barbecue lunch. Prior to tee off, Daniel Quintero, Executive Director of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, welcomed all the generous participants and acknowledged the celebrity guests/former athletes: OJ Anderson, MVP of the NY Giants Super Bowl XXV; Gerry Cooney, Legendary Heavyweight Boxer; Stephen Baker, NY Giant; Bruce Harper, NY Jet; Jeff Nelson, NY Yankee; Rick Cerone, NY Yankee; Roy White, NY Yankee; and Sean O’Hara, NY Giant.
The weather partnered nicely with the day’s events. Golfers competed at the 10th hole for a hole-in-one to win a three year lease on a brand new Lexus, courtesy of Ray Catena Lexus. The tournament concluded around five in the evening and the leaders’ impressive scores were recorded.
Following the tournament was a wonderful dinner and auction to support the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club members. During the dinner, Executive Director, Daniel Quintero gave a heartfelt speech on how the Club continues to make a tremendous difference in the lives of members and their parents. Youth of the Year representative, Jaylene Brown, shared her story and noted perfect examples of the difference “The Bay” can make in a child’s life. The evening concluded with a live auction, conducted by A&E's Storage Wars Auctioneer, John Luke. Golfers and dinner guests gave substantial and meaningful donations to the Club.
Overall, it was a wonderful evening and the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club greatly appreciates everyone’s kind donations and contributions. Thank you for taking part in making a difference in a youngster’s life.
