Summer Brain Gain 2016
During each summer, low-income youth lose more than two months' worth of math and reading skills. Kips Bay is committed to reversing these effects through a program called Summer Brain Gain by engaging them in educational activities while away from school. Participants learned about their human body organs; planted a life-giving ecosystem; utilized a nature science kit geared toward learning about the biology of the world around them; conducted a caterpillar project and witnessed the evolution of life as the caterpillars cocooned and morphed into butterflies; they made lava lamps and much more! After each project, the children wrote essays about what they learned. Overall, the youngsters agreed; Summer Brain Gain is Educational Fun!
