Kips Bay Coudert Clubhouse

Located in the West Bronx, the 28,000 sq. ft. five-story building features a welcoming ground level reception and Social Recreation game room, a gymnasium, a dedicated floor for our Cadet program (ages 6 through 9-year-olds), a dedicated floor for our Junior program (ages 10 through 13-year-olds), and a floor specifically devoted to the performing arts with a beautiful state of the art Dance studio & multi-purpose space.

 

Our Digital Arts Mac Lab, Recording studio and Podcast studio are all furnished beautifully with all state of the art equipment. Advanced e-technology is wired throughout the entire building, including all four of our “activity lobbies”.

 

This facility has the capacity to provide services for a maximum of 2000 annual members.

Programs

 

Power Hour (Ages 6-13)

Each day, members are assisted with their homework and encouraged to become self-directed learners. This time allows for members to thrive and succeed by having consistent one to one tutoring & extra help.

STEM: Code & Create (Ages 6-13)

STEM is designed to inspire members to explore the wonderful world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Every week, members engage in various activities and experiments that have a core focus in at least one of the four components listed above. STEM: Code & Create is a computer-science program that will allow members to learn about the fundamentals and aspects of coding as well as various careers in the computer science industry. Code and Create is a program designed for members to gain basic coding knowledge so that they can then apply it to the process of creating their own application or game.

Book Nook (Ages 6-10)

Book Nook is a reading and literacy development program structured to gauge the reading level of members, with the intent to aid them to achieve further growth and success in both areas. This program has four core focus groups- phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Members will enjoy a forty-five-minute session geared toward mastering their individual reading skills & adapting to each ones needs.

 

Digital Arts (Ages 6- 18)

Designed to offer members with the foundational knowledge of digital media and production. State of the art equipment and programs are offered to members for the purposes of video development, music production, sound engineering, podcast production, and photography.

Lyricism (Ages 10-13)

Space is provided for members to create music of their own, as they are guided from a song’s first words to its final recording. The environment fostered for members allows them to try out different writing styles, music genres, and creative collaboration all while learning the basic fundamentals of music composition.

 

Dance (Ages 6-18)

Apolosco Kips Bay Dance Company is designed for members to be exposed to the beautiful art that is dance. Members will have the opportunity to learn about various styles, techniques, and genres as it pertains to dance. Each member participating in the program will be exposed to Modern, West African, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, and Contemporary dance styles.

  

Social Recreation (Ages 6-18)

Social Recreation is designed to enhance and enrich all member's sportsmanship levels by building a positive perspective on competition, as well as building healthy relationships with opponents and teammates. Social Rec. gives members the opportunity to expand a relationship with other clubhouse members by participating in tournaments based off the skill sets acquired through the practice of various table sports. Members will learn the art of Billiards, Ping-Pong, Foosball, and playing board games. These activities will reinforce the importance of self-control, focus, and conflict resolution.

 

Physical Fitness (Ages 6-18)

Triple Play is a program that promotes becoming more physically active through a variety of games, cooperative activities, and sports that develop a young person's ability, confidence and motivation to be physically fit. Members also have the privilege of learning the fundamentals of various sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, street hockey, baseball, softball, kickball, and many more.  

 

Podcast (Ages 6-18)

Members will get to experience the art of podcasting through our Podcast & Production program. They will learn about the art of podcasting, what it takes to record a great podcast, how to host their own podcast, & what topics should be discussed or debated on a podcast show. Members will learn the art of debating and proving their points to one another in a healthy way while hosting their very own podcast.

  

Torch Club (Ages 10-13)

Torch Club is a chartered small-group leadership and service club for boys and girls ages 10-13. It is designed to aid the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation. The Torch Club Awards are presented annually to Torch Clubs with outstanding programs and activities in the four areas. Each year, Torch Club members from all over the country take part in a service-learning experience through the National Torch Club Project.

Culinary Arts Center (Ages 6-13)

Members learn how to have a healthy diet, prepare healthy dishes, and experience the atmosphere of the kitchen through cooking programs sponsored and led by Wellness in the Kitchen!

Teen Programs

 

Brents Club 

In honor of the Shapiro Foundation and the late Brent Shapiro, Brent’s Club is a drug awareness program that teaches youth the importance of living above the influence. Members also receive incentives for their sobriety taking a unique approach to drug prevention programming. 

 

Keystone 

Keystone is a unique leadership and character development program that provides an opportunity for teens, ages 14-18, through activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation, and community service.

 

Youth of the Year

As Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, Youth of the Year provides unique opportunities for club members that embody the values of leadership, academic excellence, a healthy lifestyle, and service. 

 

Karate

Through physical, mental and moral aspects members learn self-defense techniques for the overall development of the individual. Sessions are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM
