AQUATICS
Kips Bay Aquatics – Learn To Swim Classes – Ages 6 to 13 years old
The Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club offers structured learn-to-swim classes to all registered club members during the week (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs).
We offer three levels of courses that help prepare our members to gain essential swimming skills that will gear them to enjoy the water and remain safe while swimming.
Teen Learn To Swim Classes –
Ages 14 to 18 years old
At Kips Bay, we gear our older members to gain employment through programs like SYEP, Work-Learn-Grow, and the Anti-Gun Violence Employment Program.
Within the Aquatics Program, we teach teens to swim to either join the swim team or to prepare for lifeguard courses.
KB Makos Swim School -
Ages 6 to 18 years old
Our Makos Swim school is designed to cater to learn-to-swim students who have passed our Level III program.
The course is designed to work on technique and improve their skill level. Swimmers must be proficient in Freestyle, Backstroke, and Breaststroke to be part of this program.
Also, many swimmers don't want to jump into swim team mode. This is an ideal program to continue to improve their skills.
Other swimmers can use this program as an entry-level development to join the KB Makos Swim Team.
KB Makos Swim Team
The Kips Bay Makos is a registered USA Swimming Team and member club of Metropolitan Swimming LSC.
The team's goal is to reach high-level championships like Zones, Senior Mets, and Junior Olympics.
The Makos is also a member club in the Metro Swim League of NY & NJ, competing against teams from other Boys & Girls Clubs and other New York and New Jersey swim programs. We compete from October to July at local and out of State meets in North Carolina, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico, to name a few.
The Swim team is organized into two programs that split new (Novice) and elite (USA) swimmers within the program.
