GENERAL FUNCTION:

Program Professional with experience in Core Program Areas per the BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS of AMERICA model, the employee works independently most of the time to realize structured activities for teens that supports their growth. The employee works to include the applicable components of the current Kips Bay Strategic Plan and in so doing assists the executive leadership of the organization in realizing organizational goals.

 

The employee recognizes that his/her role requires administrative competence, the ability to work with other Directors and the need to perform routine duties for the organization. The responsibility also extends to overall management in the absence of colleagues that supersede or report to him/her.

 

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in youth work, community outreach, directing others, planning, handling multiple tasks, budgeting, purchasing, reporting, and managing personalities relevant to facilitation of assignments.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Implement a program for teens based upon requirements of the organization, especially those requirements pertaining to funding.

  • Meet with Unit Director and other staff to solicit input, develop schedules and coordinate programming to ensure smooth running programs and overall operation of clubhouse for the benefit of all members. Support facility supervision and new member orientations.

  • Promote member and community interest in Teen Programming. Ensure the implementation of structured group clubs and special interest activities and groups.

  • Incorporate/establish linkages with schools, community agencies, etc. To provide services, resources, and service alternatives.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records.

  • Develop and assist in the preparation and administration of Teen programming budget. Follow organization guidelines for ordering supplies and purchases.

  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate the staff, volunteers, and junior staff in your charge, including payroll and personnel requirements.

  • Manage physical spaces connected with Teen programming (Teen Center).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field. Must have experience in youth development programs and supervision.

  • Minimum of 3 years progressive professional experience in the facilitation, management, and administration of youth development programs.

  • Bi-lingual strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, outlook, and Word

Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club is a multi-service, multi-site, non-profit organization in the Bronx, NY that serves more than 10,000 children a year. Its mission is to enrich and enhance the quality of life for young people by providing educational and developmental programs to youngsters between the ages of 6 to 18 who come from disadvantaged or disenfranchised circumstances.
